A new analysis of job losses in both the US and UK shows that the worst of the job cuts could be over come Easter
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) said one in three US employers axed jobs in the final three months of 2008, similar to the number of firms in the UK planning cuts in the first quarter of 2009.
The Research suggested that fewer jobs could be lost in the first three months of 2009 which would indicate that the worst of the losses in this country could be over by Easter, said the report.
CIPD policy adviser Gerwyn Davies said: “Our comparison of the US and UK studies highlights a marked degree of transatlantic trauma affecting the jobs market.
Lets hope this prediction is True!!
Hmm, good news i guess…not to anyone that has already lost their job though.
The bigger question is:- when will the recovery begin? 2010? Long time to have no income in!
Finally some good news :). I am happy to hear this, however I will not get to excited just yet …
Well I would like to think so - everywhere you look at the moment there is bad news!
We went to stabilise and hopefully if the worst is over we should reach some sort of stability. Fingers crossed aye?
And lets not forget there are still a lot of companies out there that are recruiting, why do they only tell us bad news wouldn’t it be nice to know that as there are x million unemployed that is only a small% of the total work force employed in local jobs here in the UK
This is good news, lets hope so, everywhere you look there are people losing their jobs, the unemployment no’s must be huge. I think that Sasha is correct though when she says about it only be a small percentage of the total workforce in the UK.
I am quite hopeful of this as the larger organisations and manufacturers that I knew were in trouble have all shed jobs.
I really hope this is true, because they were saying that the situation is not likely to improve much by 2010.
